Dear Garden Club Members
That old Bob Dylan song
probably said it best—“…for the times, they are
a changing…” We have decided to make a pretty
big change at the Village Garden Center, and
return to our roots, so to speak, as a garden
center.
The biggest change will be
in our annual operating schedule. Our current
plan is to be open from March through October,
and be closed or open only for very limited
hours through the winter. You’ll also see some
small and gradual changes in our merchandise, as
well, with a few less gift and indoor décor
items and more emphasis on garden décor and
accessories. We will also be discontinuing our
fresh floral department. Our more traditional
focus will be on springtime bedding plants,
hanging baskets, containers, perennials, shrubs,
and trees, and all of the landscape products
like compost, mulch, and topsoil.
Because the Garden Club had
been billed as a year-round activity, we think
it is probably best to at least temporarily
discontinue the Garden Club until we are better
able to assess our capacity to staff that
activity going forward. We are planning to
refund the remaining balance of your annual
Garden Club Membership Dues. We can do that
either as a credit to your account with the
Village Garden Center or as check. Please let
Kathy DeLara in our office know how you would
like the balance of your dues refunded.
We hope to continue some of
the more popular features of the Garden Club
like the monthly seminars and monthly product
discounts. We will inform all of our current
Garden Club members of these developments as
they occur.
I would like to personally
thank you for having been a Village Garden
Center Garden Club member.
Sincerely,
Richard F. Meyer
